Chemical engineers to undertake DOE fuel cell study
Four chemical engineering professors from the UT College of Engineering have received a $825,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to study hydrogen fuel cells.
David Keefer will lead a team including Brian Edwards, Shengting Cui, and adjunct Bill Steele, as well as Costas Tsouris, a staff scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. The research will focus on proton transport at the electrode/electrolyte membrane interface in the cells.
The three-year project is part of DOE efforts to make hydrogen fuel vehicles and refueling stations practical for American consumers by 2020. See complete details.
