Millhorn selected as research VP
David Millhorn, who is also chairman of the UC College of Medicine's department of genome science, will assume overall responsibility for UT research on 1 August 2005. A physiologist, Millhorn will have a faculty appointment in the Health Science Center in Memphis. His primary focus will be capitalizing on UT's partnership with Battelle to operate Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
Millhorn earned a Ph.D. from Ohio State University in 1980 and a B.S. from UT Chattanooga in 1978. He served on the faculty of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a professor and director of graduate studies in the physiology department.
