Millhorn selected as research VP
The director of the University of Cincinnati's Genome Research Institute has been chosen the new vice president for research for the University of Tennessee system.
David Millhorn, who is also chairman of the UC College of Medicine's department of genome science, will assume overall responsibility for UT research on 1 August 2005. A physiologist, Millhorn will have a faculty appointment in the Health Science Center in Memphis. His primary focus will be capitalizing on UT's partnership with Battelle to operate Oak Ridge National Laboratory.
Millhorn earned a Ph.D. from Ohio State University in 1980 and a B.S. from UT Chattanooga in 1978. He served on the faculty of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a professor and director of graduate studies in the physiology department.
Millhorn is a native of Chattanooga and a self-described avid turkey hunter. See the official news release.
