- Jack Dongarra in computer science has been awarded $675,000 for a three-year protect titled "SCI: Benchmarking and Performance Analysis for HPCS."
- Erik Zinser in microbiology has been awarded $50,000 for one year for a project titled "Starter Grant: Whole-Genome Profiling of the Numerically-Dominant Ecotype of the Marine Cyanobacterium, Prochlorococcus, Grown Under a Simulated Daily Light/Dark Cycle.
- Pengcheng Dai in physics has been awarded $330,000 for a three-year study titled "Magnetic Correlations Through Metal-Insulator Transition in Strongly Correlated Electron Materials."
- Mostafa Fayek in earth and planetary sciences has been awarded $199,985 for a three-year study titled "Collaborative Research: Bacterial Controls on Mineral Dissolution and Precipitation and Aqueous Geochemistry of Natural Arsenic-Contaminated Groundwater, Bangladesh."
