Collier reappointed to Cotton Board
A University of Tennessee administrator has been reappointed to a position on the Cotton Board, a federally sanctioned industry group that promotes research and promotion of cotton.
Dr. Billie Collier, a researcher in nonwoven textile production, was reappointed in December as the Cotton Board's only consumer advisor. Collier is UT's associate vice chancellor for research compliance.
U.S. Department of Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns reappointed Collier as part of a December announcement naming new members to the 34-person board, which was created by the federal Cotton Research & Promotion Act of 1966. The board's goal is to improve the demand for and the profitability of cotton and includes both domestic cotton producers and importers.
