Deputy director named for UT Sponsored Programs

Robert Cargile has been appointed deputy director of the UT Office of Research's Sponsored Programs unit. Cargile joined the University of Tennessee Office of Research in 2002. His previous experience includes work in the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, administrative duties with the Baptist Health System, and finance responsibilities with the Clinch Powell Resource Conservation Council.

Clif Woods, UT vice chancellor for research, made the appointment "in the interest of succession planning and to ensure continuity of supervision" in the Sponsored Programs unit, which handled UT awards worth more than $130 million in 2005.
